Aprepit-Aprepitant
Apretero offered by us contains aprepitan, which belongs to a class of medications called Antiemetics. In combination with other agents, the medicine is indicted to prevent nausea and vomiting caused due to cancer chemotherapy treatment. It is also used for prevention of acute and delayed nausea and vomiting, caused due to initial and repeat courses of highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy, including high-dose cisplatin. The medicine functions by blocking the vomiting signals from the brain.

Supplied as:
125mg (1 capsule) and 80mg (2 capsules).

Overdose:
Symptoms of overdose are drowsiness and headache

PRECAUTIONS & WARNINGS
  • Not recommended for those whoe are allergic to the medicine or to other drugs like cisapride or pimozide
  • Doctor consultation required if the patient ever had any lung or kidney problem
  • Doctor advise should be taken by patients who are pregnant

A blood thinner such as warfarin, midazolam, an antidepressant such as nefazodone or paroxetine

An antibiotic such as clarithromycin, or rifampin

An antifungal medication such as itraconazole or ketoconazole

Certain cancer medicines such as docetaxel, etoposide, irinotecan, ifosfamide, imatinib, paclitaxel, vinblastine, or vincristine

Hiv medicines such as nelfinavir, lopinavir/ritonavir, or ritonavir

Seizure medication such as carbamazepine or phenytoin

Steroid medicine such as dexamethasone or methylprednisolone.

Side Effects:
  • Feeling light-headed, fainting and slow heart rate
  • Pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding
  • Nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain; diarrhea or constipation, loss of appetite, hiccups and increased thirst
  • Dry skin, weakness, dizziness, tired feeling and headache
  • Ringing in your ears, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms and sleep problems (insomnia)
Note: Apretero is a prescription drug and should be used under proper medical guidance and advice. Do not share the medicine with others, since they may be suffering from a problem that is not effectively treated by this drug.
